Hello! My name is Yann, I am a young 27-year-old professional musician with a Master's degree in Jazz Performance from the Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne. I give between 60 and 70 concerts per year. I also have several experiences as a musician, producer and composer in professional studios in France, Norway and Switzerland. I teach with a solid classical base (position, left/right hand technique) while giving the student basics of harmony (chords, song accompaniment), improvisation (scales, blues, etc.) and solo (polyphonic) or duo pieces. I am open to all proposals from the student. You will learn to listen and play according to your desires and your progress, the priority of my teaching is the pleasure of music and artistic creativity as well as the foundation of a solid and healthy technique at the service of it.

I am a lyrical singer, mezzosoprano, with a classical training. After starting my studies in Brussels, Belgium, I moved to Berlin, to study at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler. This is where I got to take lessons with some of the most important singers and pianists in the business, in such an inspiring city. After living in Berlin for 2 years, I spent 6 months in New York, before coming to Switzerland in September 2019 to finish my master's degree in lyric singing at the Haute École de Musique. Apart from my training, I have already sung recitals and festivals in Berlin, New York, Los Angeles, Brussels and Vienna. I also participated in many international singing competitions; in Europe and the United States. I am especially passionate about classical music, specifically opera, but at the same time I also adore jazz, musical, and all other genres. My goal in giving singing lessons is to help you find and develop your own voice. I want to help you become as free as possible by singing, so that singing becomes even more fun and you feel able to do with your voice what YOU want to do. The primary goal in singing and making music is to have fun above all else! I work with people from all levels; if you are just curious to experiment with your voice, want to sing classical music or something completely different ... i look forward to finding out with you!

The 5 string banjo is an amazing instrument. It's driving trademark sound and it's African roots has contributed to many music traditions, including Country, Bluegrass, Blues, Jazz and world music. In my class you'll first learn the basics, how to hold and pick and read tablatures. We'll then go through how to play a tune, accompany other instruments and finally, improvise. During the year I'll teach you basic music theory like rhythm, harmony and a bit of ear training to help you develop your understanding and relationship to the instrument. We'll mainly play Bluegrass Scruggs style at first, then we'll dive into melodic style and sigle string, that will all be useful for playing other kinds of music, like Irish music, Pop, Jazz or Blues.
